Program
Response To Natural Disaster Program

INTRODUCTION: Bangladesh has a long history of natural disasters. The geographical location, land characteristics, multiplicity of rivers and the monsoon climate render Bangladesh highly vulnerable to natural hazards. The coastal morphology of Bangladesh influences the impact of natural hazards on the area. Bangladesh suffers from floods, cyclones, thunder shower, cold wave, storm surge, river bank erosion, earthquake, landslide, drought, heavy rain, salinity intrusion, fire and tsunami. All the disasters cause massive damages.

M22 Doctors’ Foundation aims to stand beside the victims of various natural disasters in the following ways:

Droughts are common in the northwestern districts of Bangladesh (i.e. Barind Tract) in recent decades. Barind Tract covers most parts of the greater Dinajpur, Rangpur, Pabna, Rajshahi, Bogra, Joypurhat, and Naogaon. Rainfall is comparatively less in Barind Tract than in the other parts of the country.

PALM TREE PROJECTS in THUNDER PRONE RURAL AREAS

Every year hundreds of people in Bangladesh are killed by lightning, more than by floods or Cyclones. As the climate warms, lightning strikes are happening more frequently – but palm trees help keep people safe. M22 Doctors’ Foundation intends to implement PALM TEREE PROJECTS in Thunder storm prone areas in collaboration with relevant organizations.

RAINWATER HARVESTING PROJECT

To implement RAINWATER HARVESTING PROJECT in areas of heavy rainfall, saline prone coastal and arsenic affected rural areas in Bangladesh.
