Dr Salma was born and raised in Dhaka, Bangladesh. She achieved MBBS degree from Mymensingh Medical College, Mymensingh, Bangladesh in 1992 and completed one -year internship from the same Medical College. After graduation she joined Bangladesh Army as AMC officer and served in different Military Hospitals. She has earned specialization in Anesthesiology from Armed Forces Medical Institute, Dhaka Cantonment in1998.As an anesthesiologist she served in OTs and ICUs of different Combined Military Hospitals. She served in level 2 hospital in Juba, Sudan as an Anesthesiologist under UN mission in 2010.

Lt Col Dr Salma is also involved with many charitable organizations by giving financial support. Additionally, she and her husband are running a Mosque in home village in Jhenaidah and helping people in learning Quran, Sunnah, about hygiene, solving different social and personal problems.
